Doria Ragland, the Duchess of Sussex’s mother has appeared in public for the first time alongside her daughter and Prince Harry since their royal wedding in May to launch a cookbook for survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire which killed 72 people.

The book launch which took place in the grounds of the couple’s official home, Kensington Palace will raise funds for the Hubb Community Project created last summer by women seeking somewhere to cook fresh food for their families and friends following the tragic blaze which engulfed the 24-storey social housing block in west London.

Meghan’s support for the project is her first solo charitable endeavour since becoming a member of Britain’s royal family. She has a passion for cooking and used her clout to secure a publisher for the book for which she also penned the foreword.

The Grenfell fire was Britain’s deadliest residential fire since WWII and there was criticism that the authorities were slow to provide new permanent accommodation for many of the survivors. The Royal Foundation will administer proceeds from the book sales to the Hubb project.
