Eaton Square is UK’s Most Expensive Street with £17m Homes

Eaton Square, in the heart of London’s wealthy Belgravia district, has been crowned the most expensive street in England and Wales, with an average house price of £16,944,000, according to the latest research from Lloyds Bank. One of three garden squares built by the Grosvenor family in the 19th century, Eaton Square includes a mix of grand houses and apartments behind Grade II listed white stucco facades overlooking 2.5 hectares of private garden squares, making it one of the most desirable addresses in the capital. With upmarket and fashionable areas close by, including Knightsbridge, Sloane Street and Chelsea, Eaton Square has attracted many famous residents over the years, including former Prime Ministers Neville Chamberlain, Stanley Baldwin and Margaret Thatcher, and former James Bond stars Sean Connery and Roger Moore. Julian Assange ‘Cat and Mouse’ Continues

And the Julian Assange saga goes on in west London’s Knightsbridge at the Ecuadorean Embassy where the WikiLeaks founder is holed up. Four years, £12.6m police surveillance costs, a UN ruling of unlawful detention and several balcony appearances later the Swedish chief prosecutor Ingrid Isgren has finally braved the press scrum to question Assange over allegations he sexually assaulted  a woman in Stockholm in 2010. The Australian has continued to protest his innocence saying consensual sex took place claiming the charges are politically motivated. He has expressed his fears of extradition to the US where he is unlikely to be welcomed with open arms after embarrassing data dumps masterminded by his whistleblowing organisation. However, Assange still has his die-hard supporters with Baywatch’s Pamela Anderson also dropping in with a tray of delicacies for the Australian. Harrods’ food hall is quite handy, but it could turn out to be a foolhardy jaunt for nibbles when Scotland Yard is lurking around the corner and ready to pounce. But under no risk of imminent arrest is Assange’s recently …

LATE film director Michael Winner’s widow, Geraldine Winner has recounted how she said her ‘goodbyes’ during a 2-hour robbery ordeal at her £4m Knightsbridge flat on Saturday 10 October 2015. A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed the break-in and said there had been no arrests, adding: “Police were called to a flat in SW7 at about 2am on Saturday, October 10, to reports of an aggravated burglary at the property.” Mrs Winner, 77, is believed to have inherited around £20m after her husband died in 2013, downsizing from their palatial Holland Park home to the flat near the Household of Cavalry Barracks. The neighbourhood would normally be regarded as one of London’s safest, but Mrs Winner believes she was targeted by a sole female assailant. “I am supposed to be in the safest place in London. I cannot believe this has happened. The woman told me she was going to knife me, to kill me, in my head I was saying my goodbyes I thought I was going to die. “The woman came in through my …
