Prince Harry’s girlfriend, Suits actress Meghan Markle has broken cover in a Vanity Fair cover interview to speak about her love for the royal. Paraphrashing Alex Ross’ seminal book on music she describes the intense media speculation about their affair as “the rest is noise”, and insists the relationship does not define her.
The tabloids however beg to differ quoting copiously from the V.F. exclusive set to be published on Friday (8 September). Paparazzi have tailgated her to Whole Foods on High Street Kensington and remain unrelenting in their pursuit. Prince Harry was forced to issue a despairing statement about her media bashing saying through his communications secretary: “Meghan Markle has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment . . . . Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her.”
Markle, 36, remains stoical and has received advice from tennis champion Serena Williams who told her “you can’t hide”.
GREAT LOVE STORY: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are very happy together
“We’re a couple,” she states. “We’re in love. I’m sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time. This is for us. It’s part of what makes it so special, that it’s just ours. But we’re happy. Personally, I love a great love story.”
She says, “I don’t read any press. I haven’t even read press for Suits. The people who are close to me anchor me in knowing who I am. The rest is noise.”
